No Soak Grain Spawn Method
*Will be providing info for millet and winter rye other grains may vary dependent on density and size.
Materials
- Grain: Millet or Rye
- Jars and lids, * the lids I use do not have injection ports or syringe filters just gas exchange holes with 2 layers of micropore tape. 1 hole for 500ml jar and 2 for 1L jar.
- *Either 500ml jars or 1 L jars
- Measuring cups 1 cup and ½ cup
- Measuring spoon ½ tsp
- Hydrated lime (DAP concrete Lime) raises PH and kills off competing organisms
Procedure
- Rye 2 cups : 1.5 Cups of water add ½ tsp hydrated lime (1 L Jar)
- Millet 2 cups : 1 Cup of water add ½ tsp hydrated lime (1 L Jar)
- Place grain spawn lids on jars and PC @ 15 PSI for 1.5hr/ 90 mins.
- Same procedure for cooking regular spawn jars.
