Liquid Culture Jar Lids

Materials needed

  •          Canning jar lid or pp5 plastic canning jar lid

  •          Drill bits 1 large drill bit for self-healing injection port and a smaller one for air exchange hole and micro-pore tape

  •          Micro-pore tape

  •          RTV silicone (High Temperature Gasket Silicone) in auto section

  •          .2-micron Syringe filter if desired not necessary

  •          Self-Healing Injection port

Procedure

  •           Drill two holes in your Lid as far apart from each other as you can. On opposite sides of each other so when you extract LC for your syringes and the jar is tilted on its side you aren’t getting your air exchange filter wet.

  •           One large hole to pressure fit your self-healing injection port. The drill bit should be the circumference of the bottom of the self-healing injection port. Seal it with RTV silicone if desired if you don’t have any you can get away without it if the pressure fit is tight enough.

  •           Second hole will just be a small hole about the circumference of a toothpick or kabob stick or your syringe filters spike. If you are not using a syringe filter cover with 2 layers of micropore tape
